Moringa powder is not currently available from Propel Health, and we cannot sell it in Australia at the moment. Here is exactly why, and how to hear from us if that changes.
Why we stopped selling moringa powder in Australia
Moringa leaf is treated as a novel food in Australia, which means it needs approval before it can be sold as a food or used as a food ingredient.
In November 2025, Food Standards Australia New Zealand did not approve the application to permit moringa leaf as a novel food. Since March 2026 the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has held moringa leaf at the border where it is imported as a food, under import notice IFN 05-26.
The practical effect is that moringa leaf powder cannot lawfully be sold here as a food. We stopped selling ours rather than look for a way around that.
Malunggay powder
Malunggay is the Filipino name for the same plant, Moringa oleifera. If you came here looking for malunggay powder, malunggay leaves or malunggay capsules in Australia, everything above applies, because the approval status follows the plant and not the name on the pack.
So the short answer to whether malunggay is banned in Australia is the same one we gave for moringa: malunggay leaf is not approved as a novel food here, so we are not selling malunggay powder while that remains the case. Add your email below and we will let you know if the position changes.
What this does and does not mean
This is a question of approval status under Australian food law. It is not a comment on any particular batch, and it is not a claim by us about what moringa does or does not do.
It also is not permanent by definition. Novel food approvals can be applied for again, and the position can change. We simply cannot tell you when.
Can you still buy moringa powder in Australia?
You will still see moringa offered for sale in some places. We are not going to comment on anyone else's position, only our own: while moringa leaf is not approved as a food here, we will not be selling it.
